T1 Dionysus and the nymphs in a Forgotten celebration  “in the Demos”. Reflections on the Attic Theoinia

AB RESUMEN: En el léxico de Harpocración (s.v. Theoinion) se conserva una referencia a una disputa entre los gene de los Koironidai y de los Krokonidai en época de Licurgo y en este contexto se define Theoinia como fiesta de Dioniso en los demos (“kata demous”) en la que sacrifican los gennetai. Pretendo analizar esta fiesta que se enmarca, probablemente, en las Antesterias atenienses, pero a nivel local/rural. El objetivo es ver cómo se celebra en ámbito aldeano al dios del vino, y el papel que desempeñaron miembros de ciertos gene, así como, en una perspectiva más amplia, muchas mujeres del Ática, que parece que festejan al dios del vino y el vino nuevo en estrecha relación con el culto a las Ninfas.

NO ABSTRACT: In Harpocration’s lexicon (s.v. “Theoinion”), a reference to a dispute between the Koironidai and Krokonidai gene in the time of lycurgus is preserved and, in this context, T heoinia is defined as the feast of Dionysus in the demes (“kata demous”) in which the gennetai sacrifice. The intention here is to analyse this festival, which probably formed part of the Athenian Anthesteria, but at a local/rural level. The objective is to determine how the god of wine was honoured in rural areas and the role played by members of certain gene, plus, from a broader perspective, many women from Attica who apparently honoured the god of wine and new wine in close relationship with the cult of the nymphs.
