T1 Tetil Textile Workshop: A Space for Artistic and Reflective Co-creation around the Female Breast

AB El Taller Textil Tetil, desarrollado en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid en 2023, se concibió como un espacio de creación colaborativa centrado en la resignificación del cuerpo femenino a través del arte textil. A partir de una metodología participativa, el proyecto integró investigación teórica, dinámicas grupales, prácticas textiles y escucha activa, promoviendo el diálogo intercultural e intergeneracional y la construcción de vínculos afectivos entre las participantes. El objetivo principal fue explorar la representación del pecho femenino en el arte y su impacto en la percepción social, fomentando la creación artística como medio de reflexión, cuidado y sororidad. El resultado fue el Mural de Tetas, una obra colectiva que recoge la diversidad técnica y simbólica del grupo, mostrada en la exposición Nuevas Enseñanzas en Ávila en 2024. El estado de la cuestión posiciona el arte textil como herramienta de resistencia, activismo y construcción identitaria. La experiencia evidenció el potencial transformador del arte en contextos educativos, consolidando el taller como espacio de bienestar universitario. La documentación del proceso mediante registros visuales y escritos permitió sistematizar la experiencia y visibilizar sus efectos personales y colectivos, abriendo la posibilidad de itinerar la obra y expandir su impacto en nuevos entornos.
AB The Tetil Textile Workshop, held at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2023, was conceived as a space for collaborative creation focused on reinterpreting the female body through textile art. Using a participatory methodology, the project integrated theoretical research, group dynamics, textile practices and active listening, promoting intercultural and intergenerational dialogue and the construction of emotional bonds between the participants. The main objective was to explore the representation of the female breast in art and its impact on social perception, encouraging artistic creation as a means of reflection, care and sisterhood. The result was the Mural de Tetas (Breast Mural), a collective work that reflects the technical and symbolic diversity of the group, shown in the exhibition Nuevas Enseñanzas (New Teachings) in Ávila in 2024. The state of knowledge positions textile art as a tool for resistance, activism and identity building. The experience demonstrated the transformative potential of art in educational contexts, consolidating the workshop as a space for university wellbeing. The documentation of the process through visual and written records made it possible to systematise the experience and highlight its personal and collective effects, opening up the possibility of touring the work and expanding its impact in new environments.
