AB The aim of this paper is to shed light on the effects of the only privatisation that existed in the street cleaning service in Madrid. Framed within the international processes of privatisation since the 1970s and through a search in historical archives, it analyses the political-administrative and social factors that influenced thisprivatisation and its consequences on labour relations in the sector. Finally, the hypothesis of the planning of the privatisation of the service, the existence of differences with the political parties in the municipal government of Madrid and the effects of privatisation on the dualisation of working conditions affecting the further development of the service in the different districts of Madrid are tested.

NO El objetivo de este trabajo es arrojar luz sobre los efectos de la única privatización que existió en el servicio de limpieza viaria de Madrid. Enmarcado dentro de los procesos internacionales de privatización desde los años 70 y a través de una búsqueda en archivos históricos, se analizan los factores político-administrativos y sociales que influyeron en esta privatización y sus consecuencias en las relaciones laborales del sector. Por último, se ponen a prueba las hipótesis de la planificación de la privatización del servicio, la existencia de diferencias con los partidos políticos en el gobierno municipal de Madrid y los efectos de la privatización en la dualización de las condiciones de trabajo que afectan al desarrollo posterior del servicio en los distintos distritos de Madrid.
