RT Book, Section T1 Alpine tectonic framework of south-western Duero basin A1 Santisteban Navarro, Juan Ignacio A1 Mediavilla López, Rosa María A1 Martín Serrano, Ángel A2 Friend, Peter F. A2 Dabrio, Cristino J. AB The tectonic activity in the south-western area of theSpanish Northern Meseta (Ciudad Rodrigo and Duero basins)during most of the Tertiary was determined by u transpressiveregime that reactivated Hercynian to Late-Hercynian faults. Therecord of the Alpine Orogeny is complex because the sedimentaryrecord indicates a compresive regime in the sour e areas coevalwith the extensionall to transpresive regime indicated by normal orstrike-slip faults. This duality is due 10 the geotectonics position ofthis area between two compressive areas, the Cantabrian Rangeand the Central System, and the extensional Atlantic margin.
