AB Entre las infecciones del tracto urinario se encuentra la cistitis, en la que la infección afecta a la vejiga. Ésta es causada en un 80% de los casos por Escherichia coli, y se asocia con una gran variedad de factores de riesgo. El diagnóstico se realiza por la clínica, o a través de un urocultivo en el caso de ser complicada. El tratamiento es básicamente con antimicrobianos, y si no se eliminan totalmente las bacterias, aparecen recidivas. Por esto, el farmacéutico tiene el papel de aportar la educación sanitaria y las medidas necesarias al paciente para prevenir la patología.
AB Cystitis is a type of urinary tract infection which affects to the bladder. 80% of the cases are caused by Escherichia coli, and are associated to a great variety of risk factors. The diagnosis is performed by the clinic, or through a urine culture when it´s complicated. The treatment is basically antimicrobial, and if bacterias are not totally eliminated, recurrences appear. Because of this, the pharmacist has the role to provide sanitary education, including necessary measurements for the patient to prevent the pathology
