AB En 1770, el librero estrasburgués Johann Gothfried Bauer publica su Catalogus librorum latinorum, una edición rara ya que en España solo existe el ejemplar de la Biblioteca Histórica de la UCM, con signatura BH MD 5353(4); y un segundo en una biblioteca particular. En él se reúne más de un millar de títulos en lengua latina, de las más diversas materias, y que fueron publicados, la mayoría, a partir de 1730 en Alemania y los Países Bajos. El interés del editor se centra en presentar una colección selectiva. No oferta todas las piezas latinas de su librería sino solo aquellas que despiertan el interés entre los aficionados, bien por su singularidad o por su excelencia, y que están caracterizadas por estar ilustradas con imágenes calcográficas de célebres artistas. Ordenado alfabéticamente, registra un alto porcentaje textos especializados en medicina, botánica y zoología de autores alemanes coetáneos, si bien excluye los mapas y los relativos a geografía y música
AB In 1770, the Strasburg bookseller Johann Gothfried Bauer published his Catalogus librorum latinorum, whose rarity can be measured by the fact thereis just copy in Spain, in the Complutense University’s Historical Library, numbered BH MD 5353(4). The Catalogue registers more than a thousandtitles in Latin, on completely different subjects, which were mostly published after 1730 in Germany and the Netherlands. The publisher was clearlyinterested in presenting a selection, as he included not all Latin books from his shop, but only those which could interest collectors, for their originality or their excellence, and which shared the characteristic of being illustrated with calcographic images by important artists. The catalogue is in alphabetical order and registers a high proportion of specialist texts by contemporary German authors on medicine, botany and zoology, although it excludes maps and books on geography and music
