%X ABSTRACT: The debate about the morality of pleasure implies the semantic of Latin terms, such as “delectation”, “voluptas”, and “iocunditas”. While the first two words were used by translators to interpret the greek ἡδονῇ, “iocunditas” represents another kind of delight. This paper aims to pick out the connotations of “iocunditas” to explain why some translators resort to this option and what they want to designate with it.
%X RESUMEN: El debate sobre la moralidad del placer alcanza a la semántica de términos como «delectatio», «voluptas» y «iocunditas». Mientras los dos primeros se emplearán para traducir el ἡδονῇ griego, el tercero se utiliza para trasladar el significado otro tipo de deleite. En este trabajo, nos proponemos desgranar las connotaciones semánticas de «iocunditas» para explicar por qué ciertos traductores recurren a este vocablo y qué realidad pretenden designar con él.
