RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Aspectos académicos y personales que inciden en el abandono escolar temprano en educación secundaria obligatoria A1 Sánchez Alhambra, Agustín AB School dropouts are one of the biggest problems that educational systems must face, along with low levels of professional qualification. They both directly affect when Spanish people are searching for jobs. In a broad sense, school dropouts refer to all students between 18 and 24 who have not completed some form of post-compulsory secondary education, formal and standard (Enguita, 2010: 19). It is a very complex phenomenon and there are many factors and conditions that interact with it, such as social, political, economic and educational factors. It is important to inquire about the most personal and academic situations reflect that affect early school leave. It is important that students complete the basic compulsory education studies, because education helps people to be educated and trained. So that they are prepared for coexistence and equality, they should actively participate in their work and also be informed about changes in the country. Therefore, education should not only focus on instructional content or isolated life themes, but should be based on promoting the development of students so that they develop their own knowledge, reflexively and critically (Gonzalez, et al. 2010: 123). Currently, leaving school without proper qualification not only has a large impact on the school environment, but also has other consequences that are related to wellbeing of the person. Furthermore, leaving school affects future personal choices, limiting upcoming work posibilities. Finishing school is a prerequisite for further studies, but also is needed for labor integration. Knowledge is important for young people to develop skills for continued learning and to be integrated members of society...
