RT Journal Article T1 Charge evolution in the Y0.9Ba1.7Ca2.4Fe5O14.7 layered perovskite A1 Martínez de Irujo Labalde, Xavier A1 Goto, Masato A1 Urones Garrote, Esteban A1 Amador, Ulises A1 Ritter, Clemente A1 Amano Patino, Midori A1 Shimakawa, Yuichi A1 García Martín, Susana AB The A mixed-valence Y0.9Ba1.7Ca2.4Fe5O14.7 layeredperovskite is obtained after topochemical oxygen insertion inY0.9Ba1.7Ca2.4Fe5O13 under ozone flow. The crystal structure has been determined with a combination of diffraction and microscopytechniques. Mössbauer spectroscopy reveals a 5 Fe3.8+ → 2 Fe3+ + 3Fe(4+δ)+ charge disproportionation accompanied by a smoothmagnetic and electronic transition beginning at about 125 K. Alayered arrangement of Fe3+ and Fe(4+δ)+ assisted by the layeredcharacter of the crystal structure is suggested. Two-dimensionalmagnetic interactions are detected from the magnetic behavior ofthe oxide and neutron diffraction experiments.
