T1 Ernesto Giménez Caballero: unidad nacional y política de masas en un intelectual fascista.

AB Partiendo del análisis de los escritos de Giménez Caballero, primer intelectual español que declaró su simpatía por el fascismo, el artículo pretende mostrar que lo que le atrajo del régimen italiano fue su modelo de movilización de masas que, trasladado a España, debería servir para hacer una cuña entre los sectores sociales progresistas, obreros y republicanos, crecientemente movilizados, para poder derrotarlos así con sus mismas armas. También le atrajo la exaltación fascista del imperio, remedio necesario para fortalecer una unidad nacional española que consideraba comprometida. Por otra parte, estos dos objetivos no eran muy diferentes de los perseguidos por los dos principales líderes del primer fascismo español, Ramiro Ledesma Ramos y José Antonio Primo de Rivera.
AB By drawing on the works of Giménez Caballero, the first Spanish intellectual to declare his sympathy for fascism, this article endeavours to demonstrate that what attracted him to the Italian regime was its model of mass mobilization. By transferring the model to Spain, Giménez Caballero hoped that it would create as a wedge between the progressive social sectors, the workers and the republicans, who had become increasingly mobilized, and thereby defeat them with their own weapons. He was also attracted by fascist exaltation of empire as a means of strengthening Spanish national unity, which he considered problematic. On the other hand, these two goals were not very different from those aspired to by the two main leaders of the early Spanish fascist movement, Ramiro Ledesma Ramos and José Antonio Primo de Rivera.
