AB The present invention relates to novel methods for the identification of specific mite species in a sample, such as mass reared sample or an environmental sample. The invention further relates to nucleic acid molecules encoding the structural ribosomal RNA elements (r RNA) as well as to the non-functional RNA situated between such structural ribosomal RNAs of specific mite species and its use for designing primers for use in the method.
