AB La evolución mediante selección natural tiene como objetivo principal explicar el cambio y la adaptación al entorno de los organismos. Desde que Darwin publicara el El origen delas especies, este proceso ha adquirido un alto grado de abstracción gracias a la formulación matemática derivada de su incorporación a la genética de poblaciones. Esta formalización de la teoría no ha sido inocua. Ha venido acompañada de implicaciones metodológicas, epistemológicas y ontológicas importantes. En efecto, al desplazar el foco de atención desde el individuo a la población, la explicación descriptiva de la estructura causal propuesta por Darwin ha sido reemplazada por una explicación en términos estadísticos. Esto ha significado la separación entre la agencia y la contabilidad. Ésta es la clave para entender el denominado “darwinismo del gen”. AB The main goal of evolution through natural selection is to explain the changes in organisms and their adaptation to the environment. Since the publishing of Darwin’s The Origin of Species, evolution has acquired a high level of abstraction derived from the mathematical formulation which comes from its integration in population genetics. This formalization of the theory has not been without consequence. It has brought many important methodological, epistemological and ontological implications. By focusing not on the individual but on the population, the descriptive explanation of the causal structure proposed by Darwin has been replaced by a description in statistical terms therefore causing the separation between the agency and the accounting. This has been key to understanding the so called "Gen eye view".
