AB La gestión virreinal del príncipe de Esquilache en el Perú (1615-1621) supuso el arribo de una figura política controvertida pero practicada en la Monarquía Hispánica: el privado del virrey. A imagen y semejanza del valimiento del duque de Lerma en la corte, los reinos también conocieron nuevos tiempos en las formas de administrar el favor real. En este artículo se reflexiona acerca de la naturaleza y consecuencias de esta figura, materializada por Martín de Acedo, en las relaciones de favor y exclusión en el espacio peruano.
AB The Prince of Esquilache arrival to the Viceroyalty of Peru (1615-1621) marked the beginning of a controversial political figure that had already been put into practice by the governance of the Spanish Monarchy: the Viceroy’s favorite. Similar to the phenomenon started by the Duke of Lerma, the Indies also experienced new times in the way of administrating royal favour. This article reflects upon the nature and consequences of this figure, embodied by Martín de Acedo, in the relationships of favor and exclusion in the viceregal sphere.
