AB En este artículo homenaje al P. Manuel Revuelta se aborda el estudio de las misiones jesuitas teniendo en cuenta la adaptación de sus estrategias a las gentes y culturas a evangelizar. Desde una perspectiva comparativa entre América y Asia se analiza la aculturación de los nativos, pero también la de los misioneros, y su capacidad de integración de «unos» en la cultura de los «otros». Asimismo, la expansión de la evangelización y el éxito de la educación jesuita en estos continentes dependió también de otros factores determinantes como el contexto político en el que se originaron las misiones, y el grado de implicación de los nativos en el progreso de la misión.
AB The aim of this tribute to Manuel Revuelta S.I. is the study of Jesuit missions taking into account the adaptation of their strategies to the groups of people and cultures to be evangelized. The acculturation of the natives is analyzed from a comparative perspective between America and Asia, but also the acculturation of the own missionaries, and their capacity to integrate themselves into the culture of the «others». Likewise, the expansion of evangelization and the success of Jesuit education in these continents also depended on other determining factors such as the political context in which the missions originated, and the involvement of the natives in the progress of the mission.
