%X En este trabajo se realizará un análisis de la figura del personaje transgénero y de loselementos que constituyen su identidad dentro de dos novelas: El lugar sin límites (José Donoso,1966) y Stone Butch Blues (Leslie Feinberg, 1993). Para ello partiremos de una base teóricaderivada del feminismo y de la teoría queer, incluyendo las ideas defendidas por Judith Butlery Kate Bornstein, entre otros autores. Estudiaremos cómo expresan sus identidades lospersonajes principales de ambas novelas y las dificultades que encuentran a la hora derelacionarse con la sociedad a partir de esas expresiones de género no normativas. Trataremosde estudiar cómo a pesar de estar separados en tiempo, espacio e ideologías, tanto la Manuela(El lugar sin límites) como Jess (Stone Butch Blues) son personajes que se construyen a partirde los mismos elementos que actúan modificando sus identidades de manera similar. Estosmodificadores son, principalmente, la sociedad normativa y las estructuras que la ordenan, elespacio en el que se mueven estos personajes, y la violencia que sufren y que pasa a formarparte implícita de su existencia. Partiendo de la idea de que el género es performativo yaplicando las distintas ideas sobre la construcción de la identidad de género trataremos deromper con la concepción de la Manuela como un homosexual travesti, considerándola comomujer a partir de la aplicación de las distintas teorías de género que manejamos. En cuanto alpersonaje de Jess veremos cómo las dificultades que encuentra residen en la concepción de unsistema de género binario, donde los roles, perpetuados a lo largo de la historia, estánperfectamente delimitados, impidiendo la posibilidad de existencia de otros discursos de génerofuera de la división hombre/mujer o masculino/femenino.
%X In this study, the figure of the transgender character and the elements that constitute itsidentity will be analysed from two novels: El lugar sin límites (José Donoso, 1966) and StoneButch Blues (Leslie Feinberg, 1993). In order to do this, we will draw from a theoretical frameconstructed after the thoughts proposed by feminism and queer theories, including the ideasstated by Judith Butler and Kate Bornstein amongst other authors. We will study how the maincharacters of both novels express their identities and which are the difficulties that theyencounter when engaging with society drawing from those non-normative expressions ofgender. We will try to see how, despite being separate in time, space and ideologies, bothManuela (El lugar sin límites) and Jess (Stone Butch Blues) are characters that form themselvesfrom the same elements that act modifying their identities in a similar way. These modifiers are,principally, normative society and the structures that make it possible, the space in which thesecharacters live, and the violence that they suffer, which develops into an implicit part of theirexistence. Drawing by the idea that gender is performative and applying the different ideasabout gender identity construction, we will try to defy the concept of Manuela as a transhomosexual, considering her like a woman from the application of the different gender theoriesthat we use in the study. In relation with Jess, we will see how the difficulties she faces are theresult of a binary gender system, where the roles, perpetuated through history, are perfectlydelimited, denying the possibility of the existence of other discourses of gender outside thedivision man/woman or masculine/feminine.
