%X La arteria peronea o fibularis es una rama de la a. tibial posterior. Clásicamente se ha descrito su división terminal en las arterias fibularis posterior y perforante anterior. Pese a su constancia, se han descrito numerosas variantes en relación con sus ramas y función en la vascularización del pie. Su importancia clínica radica en el creciente número de procedimientos quirúrgicos en los que se encuentra en riesgo. Objetivos. Los objetivos del presente estudio son: a) describir, mediante un estudio en cadáver, patrones de división terminal de la a. fibularis, b) elaborar una clasificación de la distribución terminal de la arteria, c) correlacionar los hallazgos, con especial mención a la variante a. fibularis magna con el potencial de lesión en procedimientos quirúrgicos actuales...
%X The fibular artery is a branch of the posterior tibialis artery. The posterior fibular artery and theanterior perforating branch have been considered its terminal division in classic studies. Despite its frequency, many variants have been described concerning branches and role of the fibular artery in the vascularisation of the foot. Its clinical significance relates to its injury potential in the surgical procedures of the leg, ankle and foot. Objectives. The objectives of the present study are, a) to describe, by means of a cadaveric study, the different patterns of the fibular artery terminal division, b) to elaborate a classification to include those patterns and c) to correlate the findings, with special mention to the dominant fibular artery or arteria fibularis magna with the injury potential to the artery and its branches during surgical procedures...
