%X El Hospital Psiquiátrico Provincial de Oviedo, conocido como La Cadellada, abre sus puertas en enero de 1934. Sus dos psiquiatras titulares son Pedro González-Quirós y José Fernández, quienes durante toda su vida laboral mantienen una conflictiva relación personal. Con documentación inédita del hospital, conservada en el Archivo Histórico de Asturias, el artículo revisa el funcionamiento de la institución, la labor desarrollada por sus dos jefes clínicos, los diagnósticos y los tratamientos médicos; todo ello desde el final de la guerra hasta el arranque de la intensa reforma de la sanidad y la psiquiatría asturianas auspiciada por el presidente de la Diputación provincial en 1963.
%X The Provincial Psychiatric Hospital of Oviedo, known as La Cadellada, opened its doors in January 1934. Pedro González-Quirós and José Fernández were the psychiatrists of the institution. They maintain, during all their working lives, a very conflictive personal relationship. By consulting unpublished documentation preserved in the Historic Archive of Asturias, the article reviews the functioning of the institution, the work carried out by its two clinical heads, the diagnoses and the medical treatments; all of it from the end of the war until the start of the intense reform of Asturian health and psychiatry sponsored by the president of the Provincial Council in 1963.
