AB El objetivo de este artículo es doble. Por un lado se trata de destacar la importancia que tiene el conocimiento de las estadísticas regionales no sólo para el avance de la economía regional y urbana, al facilitar la contrastación empírica de teorías y modelos económicos, sino también, como instrumento de apoyo para la toma de decisiones de los agentes económicos. Y, por el otro, con el fin de fomentar el uso de estas estadísticas, se describirán las posibilidades de acceder a ellas que nos ofrecen las nuevas tecnologías de la información, en concreto Internet. Para ello revisaremos los principales servidores informáticos que proporcionan información estadística regional en línea, de una forma rápida, y sin coste alguno.
AB The object of this article is twofold. On one hand, we emphasise the importance that the knowledge of regional statistics has for the progress of regional and urban economics through the empirical validation of economie theories and models, as well as for the economic agents in te decision-making process. On the other hand, we describe the possibilities that, for these purposes, the new information technologies offer us, more precisely Internet. In order to do so, we will revise te main on-line servers that provide regional statistic in a quickly and free of charge way to encourage the use of this kind of information.
