%X RESUMEN: En este estudio se examina la expansión del tuteo a partir de, por un lado, la correspondencia entre el filólogo Menéndez Pidal y sus colegas/amigos y, por otro lado, las notas/apuntes de Pidal, borradores de trabajo para la redacción de su obra, «La Historia de la lengua española», que fue editada póstumamente. En estas cartas se analizará el uso real del pronombre solidario «tú» entre los primeros intelectuales de la Edad de Plata de la cultura española, hombres que van a presenciar el desarrollo del tuteo fuera de los entornos familiares. A su vez, los apuntes de Pidal permiten ver el trabajo de documentación del fenómeno, la propuesta de periodización, así como el origen y devenir de la nueva moda tuteante, a ojos del maestro filólogo. Estas fichas lingüísticas permiten también vislumbrar la «percepción» del tuteo a raíz de testimonios provenientes de su círculo cercano, discípulos, amigos y familiares más jóvenes.
%X ABSTRACT: This study examines the spread of the "tuteo" (formal form of "tú" in Spanish) based on, on the one hand, the correspondence between the philologist Menéndez Pidal and his colleagues and friends, and, on the other, Pidal's notes, working drafts for his work, "La Historia de la lengua española", which was published posthumously. In these letters we will analyze the actual use of the pronoun "tú" (you) among the first intellectuals of the Silver Age of Spanish culture, men who would witness the development of the "tuteo" outside of family circles. Pidal's notes, in turn, reveal the work of documenting the phenomenon, the proposed periodization, and the origin and evolution of the new "tuteo" trend, through the eyes of the master philologist. These linguistic records also provide a glimpse into the "perception" of the tuteo based on testimonies from his close circle, disciples, friends, and younger relatives.
