RT Book, Section T1 “Unser Verlangen nach den großen und flachen Horizonten” : imágenes de México en la narrativa de Max Frisch A1 Hernández González, María Isabel A2 Raposo Fernández, Berta A2 Prado Wohlwend, Christian Nestor AB ABSTRACT: In the narrative works of Max Frisch (1911–1991), Mexico plays an often underestimated role, even though its mark can be traced in a number of his novels, in which the journey constitutes a central element that shapes the different narrative levels, and shows the fascination of the Swiss writer for the country and its historical and cultural traditions. Based on the impressions which he gathered in his travel notebooks, Frisch wrote an essay entitled "Orchideen und Aasgeier. Reisealbum aus Mexiko" (1951), which reflects his perception of a culture that never left him indifferent. Retracing those journeys from the impressions and testimonies he left behind, this chapter will study the way in which Frisch shaped them in his literary texts and for what purpose.
