%X La tesis doctoral Actitud Práctica y Epistemología en el Pensamiento de la Escuela de Cirene está enfocada a realizar un análisis minucioso de la filosofía cirenaica desde sus inicios con Aristipo de Cirene hasta sus últimas manifestaciones en periodo helenístico. En la introducción se expone la metodología empleada para llevar a término dicho trabajo, tras la que se atiende al contexto histórico y filosófico en el que se desarrolla la escuela de Cirene. A continuación, se ofrecen unas notas sobre las fuentes más relevantes sobre la investigación, para cerrar la introducción con un estudio de la genealogía cirenaica. La segunda parte de nuestro estudio versa sobre la epistemología cirenaica, profundizando, primero, en el carácter que los cirenaicos adscriben de los pathḗ. Una vez comprendidas las propiedades de las afecciones en el pensamiento cirenaico se desarrollan cuestiones como la posibilidad de una ontología dentro del marco filosófico de la escuela, sus aproximaciones al lenguaje, la identificación del sujeto y la relación epistémica entre los distintos individuos. Para un mayor grado de comprensión y precisión, se procede a comparar la teoría del conocimiento cirenaica con la de tres corrientes filosóficas que le son contemporáneas: el protagorismo, el epicureísmo y el escepticismo antiguo. Cerramos la segunda parte de la tesis atendiendo al funcionamiento del páthos como límite del conocimiento humano y criterio de acción. Con todo ello, se adquieren las herramientas para estudiar en detalle las distintas propuestas éticas de los cirenaicos en la tercera parte de esta tesis. Así, se atiende a la propuesta hedonista de los primeros integrantes de la escuela, la restauración aniceriana, el pesimismo de Hegesias, y la moral de la alegría teodoriana. Por último, en la cuarta parte de la tesis, se procede a exponer de manera ordenada las conclusiones de nuestra investigación.
%X The doctoral thesis, "Practical Attitude and Epistemology in the Thought of the Cyrene School," focuses on a thorough analysis of Cyrenaic philosophy from its beginnings with Aristippus of Cyrene to its most recent manifestations in the Hellenistic period. The introduction presents the methodology used to carry out this work, after which it addresses the historical and philosophical context in which the Cyrene School developed. This is followed by some notes on the most relevant sources for the research, concluding the introduction with a study of Cyrenaic genealogy. The second part of our study deals with Cyrenaic epistemology, delving first into the character that the Cyrenaics ascribe to the pathḗ. Once the properties of affections in Cyrenaic thought have been understood, questions such as the possibility of an ontology within the philosophical framework of the school, its approaches to language, the identification of the subject, and the epistemic relationship between different individuals are developed. For a greater degree of understanding and precision, we proceed to compare the Cyrenaic theory of knowledge with that of three contemporary philosophical currents: Protagorism, Epicureanism, and ancient skepticism. We conclude the second part of the thesis by examining the functioning of pathos as a limit to human knowledge and a criterion for action. With all this, we acquire the tools to study the different ethical proposals of the Cyrenaics in detail in the third part of this thesis. Thus, we address the hedonistic proposal of the early members of the school, the Anicerian restoration, the pessimism of Hegesias, and the Theodorian morality of joy. Finally, in the fourth part of the thesis, we proceed to present the conclusions of our research in an orderly manner.
