AB La concesión de títulos nobiliarios durante la Restauración despertó el interés de los historiadores sociales en los sesenta. En poco tiempo, sin embargo, pasó a ser un relato cerrado, señalado como una muestra más de los límites de la modernización de la España de entonces. No obstante, las estrategias a veces conflictivas, a veces concurrentes del rey, los aspirantes y los Grandes convirtieron el proceso de ennoblecimiento durante el reinado de Alfonso XIII en un laboratorio de distinción social, en ocasiones contradictorio y bastante europeo. Sinduda, la complejidad que demuestra una nueva mirada reclama más atención hacia la nobleza española en este periodo
AB The granting of titles during the Spanish Restoration awakenedthe interest of social historians in the Sixties. Soon, however, it becamea closed narrative, pointed out as a further demonstration of the limitsof the modernization of Spain. Nevertheless, sometimes conflictivestrategies of the King, contenders and the Grandees turned the ennoblementprocess during the reign of Alfonso XIII in a laboratory of socialdistinction, occasionally contradictory and quite European. Surely,the complexity that demonstrates a new insight calls for more attentionto the Spanish nobility in this period.
