RT Journal Article T1 Magnetoestratigrafía de la Cuenca de Madrid (Aragoniense-Vallesiense): datos preliminares A1 Montes Santiago, M.J. A1 Beamud, B. A1 Garcés, M. A1 Calvo Sorando, José Pedro AB Four stratigraphic successions covering most the lithological record from the Lower and Intermediate Miocene genetic units in the Madrid Basin have been correlated by means of magnetostratigraphic data. The correlation is also based on paleontological and sedimentological information, this representing the first, although preliminary, magnetostratigraphic approach to the distal alluvial and lacustrine Miocene deposits of the Madrid Basin. The composite magnetostratigraphic succession of the Madrid Basin spans from chron C5Br to chron C5n, which represents around 6 Ma, in the middle and upper Miocene, recorded by a 185 m thick succession. The boundary between the Lower and Intermediate genetic units is set within chron C5AD, wich an interpolated age around 14.35 Ma.
