T1 Tafonomía, fosilización y yacimientos de fósiles: modelos alternativos

AB La Tafonomía es un subsistema conceptual de la Paleontología cuyo objetivo es averiguar cómo hasido producido y qué modificaciones ha experimentado el registro fósil. Teniendo en cuenta un planteamientosistemista y evolucionista se puede desarrollar un modelo alternativo de la fosilización: el modelode modificación tafonómica y retención diferencial vs. el modelo de modificación paleobiológica y destrucciónselectiva. Durante la fosilización aparecen representantes de nuevos grupos tafonómicos, quetienen diferente composición y estructura respecto a los elementos biogénicamente producidos. En cadaestadio del proceso de fosilización persisten los grupos tafonómicos (o tafones) cuyos elementos se hanestabilizado, transformado y replicado con mayor eficacia en las etapas anteriores, no los elementosconservados que inicialmente eran más resistentes ni los que han sido menos afectados por factores ambientales.[ABSTRACT]Taphonomy is a conceptual subsystem of Palaeontology which strives to ascertain how the fossil recordhas been produced and what sort of modifications it has undergone. An alternative model to thattraditionally used in Taphonomy can be developed taking into account a systemic and evolutionary approach:the model of taphonomic modification and differential retention vs. the model of palaeobiologicalmodification and selective destruction. Representatives ofnew taphonomic groups appear during fossilizationprocesses. Components of these taphonomic groups show different composition and structurefrom those biogenically produced, and they increase de diversity of the fossil record. In every fossilizationstage the persisting taphonomic groups (or tapha) will be those whose preserved elements have beenstabilized, transformed, and replicated with a higher efficiency in the prior stages, but not the most resistantor those preserved elements less affected by environmental factors
