T2 External Academic Internships: Some Reflections for the Degree in Sociology

AB Con la implantación del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior, la carrera de Sociología ha experimentado un nuevo desafío: la organización de las prácticas académicas externas en entidades de distinto tipo. Este artículo trata de analizar el contexto actual de las prácticas curriculares en Sociología a partir de las respuestas de sus responsables académicos en las universidades españolas. Se analiza información relativa a la gestión de dichos programas, el perfil de los responsables, la motivación de los estudiantes, los obstáculos que encuentran y los puestos disponibles en las diferentes organizaciones. Finalmente, con objeto de enmarcar y mejorar los programas de prácticas existentes, se proponen algunos problemas que deberían ser investigados, como los cambios en los procesos laborales y las reconfiguraciones profesionales, los conflictos jurisdiccionales con otras ciencias sociales, el rol de la teorización sobre el trabajo empírico y la relación entre las prácticas y las oportunidades del trabajo profesional.
AB With the full implementation of the European Higher Education Area, Sociology studies have experienced a new challenge: the organization of external academic internships in entities of different types. This article tries to analyze the current context of academic internships in Sociology on the basis of the answers of the staff in charge of them in all Spanish universities. Information related to the management of such programs, the profile of those responsible of implementing them, student’s motivations, the obstacles they find, and a breakdown of posts among different organizations is offered. Finally, in order to frame and improve the existing internship programs, we propose some problems that should be taken into account, such as the changes in the labor processes and in the professional reconfigurations, the jurisdictional conflicts with other social sciences, the role of theorizing on one’s own empirical work and the relationship between internships and professional job opportunities.
