The Siberian hamster (SH) has a similar appearance to common hamsters such as the European hamster (Cricetus cricetus) and the golden hamster (Mesocricetus auratus), although it belongs to a different genus. The fact that its main allergen shows no IgE cross-reactivity with allergens from European or golden hamsters [2] hampers diagnosis, because there is currently no standardized commercial extract available for SH. Clinical data on allergy to SH are relatively scarce [3-5]. We describe the clinical characteristics of patientssensitized to SH. %~
