%X Las relaciones diplomáticas hispano-alemanas entre 1868 y 1918 nos proporcionan un escenario alternativo desde el que analizar el encaje de España en la sociedad internacional contemporánea. A este respecto, son relativamente conocidos los encuentros y desencuentros que las cancillerías de Madrid y Berlín mantuvieron durante dicho periodo; unas relaciones cordiales, aunque sometidas a una constante tensión, en las que España buscó en Alemania un contrapeso a la dependencia de su política exterior respecto a los intereses de Francia y Reino Unido, mientras que el Imperio alemán tentó a la diplomacia española a acercar posturas para así cercar aún más a Francia, su eterno rival. En ese contexto posibilista y fluido afloraron redes económicas,culturales y religiosas merced a la acción de los emigrantes alemanes que se asentaron en la España de la Restauración...
%X Spanish-German diplomatic relations between 1868 and 1918 bring us analternative stage from which to analyse the integration of Spain into the modern international society. In this regard, we know relatively well the encounters and misunderstandings that the chancelleries in Madrid and Berlin maintained during this period. There were friendly relations between them, although they were affected by constant frictions. Spain looked in Germany for a counterbalance to the traditional dependence of its foreign policy towards France and the United Kingdom, while the German Empire tempted Spanish diplomacy to bring its positions closer to it in order to put pressure on France, its eternal rival. It was in this pragmatic and fluid context that economic, cultural, and religious networks emerged, thanks to the action of the German emigrants who settled in the Spain of the Bourbon Restoration...
