AB Los países de la comunidad iberoamericana a ambas orillas del Atlántico mantienen fuertes lazos históricos, culturales e idiomáticos y elementos autóctonos propios que es preciso cultivar en bien del progreso y el diálogo entre las naciones. En el marco cultural y por lo que respecta a la cooperación bibliotecaria iberoamericana, puede aún hacerse mucho para que las bibliotecas iberoamericanas compartan proyectos tecnológicos y visibilicen eficazmente el acervo bibliográfico patrimonial iberoamericano como base para desarrollar actividades y servicios. En este sentido, OCLC, organismo internacional sin ánimo de lucro que congrega la mayor cooperativa mundial de bibliotecas, permite hacer realidad la cooperación bibliotecaria a escala global sobre una firme base tecnológica, asentada sobre su catálogo colectivo mundial WorldCat y herramientas de última generación como su programa WMS, dando visibilidad al mismo tiempo a estructuras bibliotecarias regionales, como podría serlo la iberoamericana. La Biblioteca Complutense apuesta desde hace años por proyectos cooperativos globales, como la integración progresiva en OCLC y la adopción de su sistema WMS para contribuir a la construcción de infraestructuras de servicios bibliotecarios en entornos geográficos y culturales afines dentro de un mundo cada vez más global.
AB The countries of the Ibero‐American community on both sides of the Atlantic maintain strong historical, cultural and linguistic ties and native elements that must be cultivated for the sake of progress and dialogue between nations. In the cultural framework and in regard to Ibero‐American library cooperation, much can still be done for Ibero‐American libraries to share technological projects and effectively visualize Ibero‐American patrimonial heritage as a basis for developing activities and services. In this sense, OCLC, an international non‐profit organization that brings together the world's largest library cooperative, makes global librarycooperation a reality on a firm technological base, upon its WorldCat catalog and cutting‐edge tools such as its WMS program, giving visibility at the same time to regional library structures, such as it could be the Ibero‐American one. The Complutense Library has been committed for years to global cooperative projects, such as the progressive integration in OCLC and the adoptionof its WMS system to contribute to the construction of library services infrastructures in related geographical and cultural environments within an increasingly global world.
