%X The seismic and tectonic interpretation of the ESCI-Béticas and ESCI-Alborán deep seismic  reflection profiles provides an overall image of the crust on the northern flank of the Betic-Rif orogenic system. In these interpretations, previous wide-angle refraction-reflection and MCS industrialprofiles were used in order to identify the sequence of collisional-extensional events that built up the crust in this escape-type orogenic area. A model of convergence between the Iberian crust and the Alborán domain, including coeval extension due to lateral escape, is consistent with the data presented in this paper.
%X La interpretación sísmica y tectónica de los perfiles ESCI-Béticas y ESCI-Alborán proporcionan una imagen global de la corteza en el flanco norte del oró geno bético-rifeño. En esa interpretación se han utilizado otros datos procedentes de perfiles de sísmca de refracción-reflexión de gran ángulo y de perfiles de sísmica multicanal comerciales. Se propone una secuencia de procesos extensionales y colisionales que origina la estructuración de esta zona orogénica. Además se considera un modelo tectónico de escape lateral que es congruente con los datos presentados.
