%X El presente estudio acomete el análisis de un periodo crucial en la historia del grabado del siglo XX en España, con el propósito de destacar la labor llevada a cabo por el taller, editora y galería que con el nombre de Grupo Quince impulsó la actividad gráfica española, situándola dentro de los parámetros contemporáneos que actualmente rigen esta disciplina artística. Bajo el título: "La actividad gráfica de Grupo Quince" se pretende abordar su extensa labor editorial desarrollada en Madrid entre 1971 y 1985, resaltando el carácter pionero de algunas de sus propuestas, sus logros sobre la edición y la difusión de la obra gráfica de artistas españoles y extranjeros, así como el carácter colaborativo de los trabajos realizados en el taller por pintores y escultores bajo la dirección de excelentes grabadores. Con el objeto de justificar la decisiva aportación de Grupo Quince, se revisan los principios y características que definen el arte gráfico para establecer la lectura que actualmente debemos hacer de esta disciplina artística. Se analizan los conceptos que más han influido en esta nueva visión y valoración de la obra gráfica, y se repasan los antecedentes inmediatos a la formación de Grupo Quince. Una vez establecido el contexto y los antecedentes se aborda un profundo análisis sobre su actividad editorial, comercial y expositiva, así como el trabajo desarrollado por los directivos, los técnicos y los artistas que participaron en este proyecto pionero en la gráfica española. El estudio se completa con un catálogo razonado de la obra gráfica editada por Grupo Quince que contiene la descripción pormenorizada de las obras junto a la reproducción de las mismas, conformando una referencia clave para futuras investigaciones.ABSTRACT. This study aims to analyze a crucial period in the history of printmaking in 20th century Spain, with the intention of highlighting the work of the workshop, publisher and gallery known as Grupo Quince. The collective was a driving force behind the Spanish printmaking movement, positioning it within the contemporary parameters where the artistic discipline is currently found. Entitled “The Activity of Grupo Quince in Printmaking”, the study looks at the group’s extensive editorial work, which took place in Madrid between 1971 and 1985, underlining the pioneering nature of several of its projects, its publishing achievements and the dissemination of graphic works by both Spanish and foreign artists. It also aims to highlight the collaborative spirit of pieces created in the workshop by painters and sculptors under the direction of excellent printmakers. With the goal of illustrating the decisive contribution of Grupo Quince, the principles and characteristics that define prints are reviewed, in order to establish the interpretation that is currently appropriate for this artistic discipline. Those concepts are analyzed which have been most influential in this new vision for and assessment of prints, and the recent history of the formation of Grupo Quince is reviewed. Once context and recent history have been established, a thorough analysis begins of the group’s activity in publishing, trade and exhibitions. In addition, the work of the group’s managers, specialists and artists is thoroughly explored through a detailed look at all those who participated in this cutting edge project in the world of Spanish printmaking.
