%X Following in the footsteps of Wolfgang Mieder, considered one of the most important paremiologists and paremiographers of all times, the journal "Paremia" was published in Spain in 1993. As a result, research groups on paremias were created in Spanish universities and the world’s first PhD-programme on paremiology and phraseology was launched. This has led to the supervision of many doctoral theses on the subject, and a large number of research projects and teaching innovation projects on paremias, that have been and are still being carried out. Taking all these facts into account, this paper aims to show how Mieder’s influence has led to a growth in paremiological and paremiographical research in the 21st century in Spain, particularly thanks to the application of ICTs.
