T1 La Tafonomía: un subsistema conceptualde la Paleontología

AB Tafonomía significa literalmente «las leyes del enterramiento» yfue descrita originariamente como «el estudio de la transición de losrestos orgánicos desde la biosfera a la litosfera», según EFREMOV(1940). En este artículo se intenta evaluar los conceptos básicos ymétodos de la «Tafonomía»; sus relaciones con otros campos científicosde investigación, especialmente de la Geología, también son tenidasen cuenta. Y se muestra que la aplicación de varios conceptosde sistemas tafonómicos es de particular valor paleontológico.[ABSTRACT]Taphonomy literally means «the laws of burial» and was originallydescribed as the «study of the transition of organic remains from thebiosphere into the lithosphere», after EFREMOV (1940). This paper triesto evaluate the basic concepts and methods of «Taphonomy»; itsrelationships with other research fields, especially in Geology, are alsoconsidered. It is shown here that the application of various taphonomicsystems concepts is of particular value in Paleontology.
