RT Conference Proceedings T1 New antibiotics against DNA. Topoisomerase I of S. pneumoniae A1 García Esteban, María Teresa A1 Blázquez Ferrer, María Amparo A1 Ferrandiz Avellano, María josé A1 Sanz Ferrando, María Jesús A1 Silva Martín, Noella A1 Hermoso Domínguez, Juan Antonio AB S. pneumoniae is the main ethological agent of community-acquired pneumonia. Pneumococcal DNA topoisomerase complement, that control its DNA topology, consists of two type II enzymes (DNA gyrase and DNA topoisomerase IV) and a single type I enzyme (DNA topoisomerase I, TopA). While fluoroquinolone antibiotics target the type II topoisomerases, no antibiotics against TopA has yet been reported. Antibiotic resistance is a serious clinical problem in all the world. An increase in resistance to fluoroquinolones in S. pneumoniae it is not unexpected. Therefore, it is necessary to look for new antibiotics against new targets YR 2010 FD 2010-01 LK https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14352/130565 UL https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14352/130565 LA spa DS Docta Complutense RD 24 ene 2026
