RT Journal Article T1 Diffraction of a classical electromagnetic wave by a thin periodic slab: a rigorous approach A1 Fernández Álvarez-Estrada, Ramón A1 Calvo Padilla, María Luisa AB The interaction and diffraction of a classical electromagnetic wave by a thin slab characterised by a periodic dielectric permeability is studied rigorously, thereby completing previously existing studies. New integral equations for the induction vector in terms of a suitable Green function, are presented, and a condition which ensures the convergence of their iterations is obtained. A bound for the error of the usual Debye-Born-Rayleigh-Gans approximation to the diffraction amplitudes is given.
