%X El escritor británico Roald Dahl (1916-1990) y el autor estadounidense J.D. Salinger (1919-2010) vivieron, escribieron y publicaron durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, la posguerra y la Guerra Fría, un período que fue testigo de movimientos sociales y rebelión juvenil, así como cambios culturales que conducen a una brecha generacional. En este contexto, no sorprende que sus libros estén llenos de héroes y antihéroes infantiles y juveniles y que, por esta razón, sus obras hayan sido rápidamente catalogados como literatura infantil o juvenil, otorgándoles un lugar tanto en la cultura popular, como en el syllabus escolar, sin dejar de ser objetos de censura frecuente. Partiendo del marco del Childism, que promueve investigaciones menos adultocentristas, y más enfocadas en los niños y jóvenes, y considerando teorías desde la crítica literaria infantil como la aetonormativity (similar a la normatividad adulta), este estudio interdisciplinar ofrece un análisis comparativo de la representación de la niñez y la juventud en la obra de Dahl y Salinger...
%X The British writer Roald Dahl (1916-1990) and the North American author J.D. Salinger (1919-2010) lived, wrote, and published during World War II, the postwar and the Cold War, a period that witnessed youth revolt and social movements, as well as cultural changes that led to a generational gap. In this context, it is not surprising that their books are filled with children and young heroes and antiheroes and that they became rapidly associated with children’s literature and Young Adult (YA) fiction, earning both a place in popular culture and readings lists, without ceasing to be targets of adult censorship. Considering that age is a factor of social difference, and drawing from the framework of Childism that encourages child-centered research and literary critical theories like aetonormativity, concerning adult normativity in children’s literature and YA, this interdisciplinary study offers a comparative analysis of representations of childhood and youth in the works of Roald Dahl and J.D.
