AB RESUMEN: ¿Hasta qué punto una investigación puede asociarse a una vida? En estas líneas, narradas de modo autobiográfico, trazaré los principales vectores que, de modo parcialmente inopinado, han contribuido a la configuración de una definición científica del mito, iniciada hace treinta años, progresivamente afinada y definitivamente elaborada hace ahora tres. Hace tres décadas comenzó un nuevo proceso que había de conducir a una tarea de gran calado: detectar, estudiar e interpretar el mito en cada texto gracias a unas bases incuestionables; era preciso proporcionar una metodología, una hermenéutica y una epistemología del mito. Nació así la Mitocrítica Cultural. Como toda mi investigación, como toda vida, estas palabras también serán un canto agradecido a quienes han colaborado voluntaria e involuntariamente en este apasionante proyecto universitario.
AB ABSTRACT: To what an extent can an investigation be associated with a life? In this lecture, mainly autobiographical, I will trace the main directions that, in a partially unexpected way, have contributed thirty-three years ago to the configuration of a scientific definition of myth. But offering a definition of myth was not enough: it was yet necessary to contrast it with the texts, with other definitions, with experts. I had to unravel its weaknesses and take advantage of its strengths. Thus, began a new process leading to an even greater task: to detect, study and interpret myth in each text on the basis of unquestionable foundations; it was necessary to offer a methodology, a hermeneutic and an epistemology of myth. This is when Cultural Myth Criticism was born. Like all my research, like all my life, these words will also be a song of gratitude to those who have collaborated either voluntarily or involuntarily in this exciting university project.
