AB La Fibromialgia (FM) es una enfermedad crónica de etiología aún no completamente conocida caracterizada por un cuadro sintomático de dolor generalizado del aparato locomotor, sin signos inflamatorios, y con sensibilidad a la presión en determinados puntos (puntos sensibles), rigidez, fatiga, trastornos del sueño y disfunción cognitiva. A pesar de la gran cantidad de síntomas que presentan estos pacientes, la escasez de hallazgos a la exploración y la ausencia de datos objetivos impiden hacer un diagnóstico de certeza en muchas ocasiones. Por otro lado, no es posible proponer un tratamiento óptimo debido a que las evidencias existentes sobre la efectividad de las terapias disponibles para la FM son limitadas. Por todo ello, la FM representa un desafío para los clínicos, tanto desde el punto de vista diagnóstico como terapéutico. La FM es una de las enfermedades reumatológicas de mayor impacto en la calidad de vida de las personas que la padecen, afectando negativamente a su capacidad física, actividad intelectual, estado emocional y relaciones personales y familiares, lo que exige a los pacientes desarrollar múltiples estrategias de afrontamiento. Además, en comparación con otros pacientes reumatológicos, las personas con FM presentan una mayor frecuentación de los servicios sanitarios y utilizan más a menudo las terapias alternativas...
AB FM is a chronic disease of etiology still not completely known characterized by a symptomatic picture of widespread pain of the locomotive device, without inflammatory signs, and with sensibility to the pressure in certain points (tender points), inflexibility, fatigue, sleep disorders and cognitive dysfunction. In spite of the great quantity of symptoms that these patients present, the shortage of findings to the exploration and the absence of objective information they prevent from doing a diagnosis of certainty in many occasions. On the other hand, it is not possible to propose an ideal treatment due to the fact that the existing evidences on the efficiency of the available therapies for the FM are limited. For all this, FM represents a challenge for the clinical ones, so much from the diagnostic as therapeutic point of view. FM is one of the rheumatic diseases of major impact in the quality of life of the persons who suffer it, affecting negatively to his physical capacity, intellectual activity, emotional condition and personal and familiar relations, which demands the patients to develop multiple strategies of confrontation.
