AB El objetivo del artículo es describir el estado de la cuestión respecto a la presencia de disfagia en la población con esclerosis múltiple. En primer lugar, se hace una revisión de aspectos epidemiológicos. En segundo lugar, se estudian los procedimientos diagnósticos señalando sus puntos fuertes y débiles. En tercer lugar, se describen los signos y síntomas encontrados en personas con EM y disfagia. En cuatro y último lugar, se presentan los procedimientos rehabilitadores existentes y algunas consideraciones sobre el manejo de la patología. Para concluir, se destaca la importancia del empleo de pruebas objetivas de diagnóstico que permitan detectar precozmente la patología, orientar en el tratamiento y ajustar las técnicas de intervención.
AB The aim of this paper is to describe the state of art regarding the presence of dysphagia in the multiple sclerosis population. First, we review the epidemiological aspects.Second, we point out the strengths and weaknesses of the different diagnostic procedures.Third, we describe the signs and symptoms found in people with MS and dysphagia. Finally, we present the different rehabilitation procedures and some considerations on the treatment of MS and dysphagia deseases.. In conclusion, we stress the importance of using objective diagnostic tests to detect early disease, guide and adjust the treatment intervention techniques.
