%X El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar la imagen que tiene la Formación Profesional, entre los jóvenes universitarios de la Comunidad de Madrid que estudian en grados del área de Ciencias Sociales, Comunicación y Ciencias de la Educación. Por consiguiente, hemos realizado una encuesta entre 461 estudiantes universitarios, del área de Ciencias Sociales, de Comunicación y de Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, de la Universidad Complutense y de la Universidad Autónoma, para averiguar si tienen una imagen favorable o negativa de la FP. En un segundo momento hemos seleccionado una submuestra compuesta por 40 personas - 20 que estudiaron FP y otras 20 que no lo hicieron-, para profundizar, a través de entrevistas cualitativas semiestructuradas, las razones profundas y las causas reales de su posicionamiento favorable o desfavorable hacia la FP. Los resultados demuestran que la mayoría de nuestras unidades de observación tienen una imagen positiva de la FP y que perciben este ciclo de estudios como útil y práctico.
%X The aim of this paper is to study the image of the vocational education and training among university students of the community of Madrid in the areas of Social Sciences, Communication and Education. In order to get it, we surveyed 461 university students in the three areas and at three different universities: Complutense, Autónoma, and Rey Juan Carlos to find out if they have a favorable or negative image of the VET. As a second step, we have selected a sub-sample of 40 of the students, 20 who had studied VET and 20 who did not- to deepen, through semi-structured qualitative interviews, the real reasons and the actual causes of favorable or unfavorable position toward the VET. The results show that the image of the VET has got, generally speaking, a noticeable improvement, although there are still contradictory elements and still prevails the perception that a title of VET continues to have less social prestige than other types of studies.
