Within the Athenian genealogies, Cephalus is the unfortunate husband of Procris: he is the victim of his wifeʹs threatening character and the baleful power of her gifts. In the episode of the hunting of the Cadmean vixen, which precedes the conception of Herakles, the story emphasises the prodigious character of the dog, essential to Zeusʹ plan, and the fate of Cephalus, who becomes a founding hero. %~
