RT Book, Section T1 The Spanish labor market: on the path of flexibility and wage devaluation A1 Vicent Valverde, Lucía A1 Ruiz-Gálvez Juzgado, María Eugenia A2 Buendía, Luis A2 Molero Simarro, Ricardo AB Introduction In the preceding chapters, we have shown the fundamentals of the process of growth, crisis, and adjustment in its three main dimensions: the accumulation pattern, external insertion, and financial capital. With this chapter, the objective of which is to study the labor market, we begin a second analytical segment that focuses on the effects of prior dynamics on the structure of labor relations, both before and during the recession. Once this question has been considered, Chapter 5 will deal with the outcome of the distributive struggle, thus completing our portrait of what has happened in the Spanish economy.
