AB El principal objetivo del presente artículo es ofrecer un minucioso estudio del interesante retablo epigráfico-heráldico que se ubica en la torre de la Catedral de Baeza. Para ello se ha realizado un análisis de sus elementos externos, internos y funcionales, ofreciendo una edición rigurosa que presenta diversas variantes de lectura respecto a anteriores autores. Asimismo, se aportan cuatro inscripciones inéditas que están integradas en los escudos heráldicos que acompañan a las inscripciones. El análisis realizado ha permitido ofrecer una nueva hipótesis en relación con la procedencia del retablo, defendiendo su ubicación original y primigenia en una de las torres del antiguo alcázar.

NO The main objective of this article is to provide a detailed analysis of the interesting epigraphic heraldic reredos located on the wall of the tower of Baeza Cathedral. So, its external, internal and functional elements have been studied and a rigorous edition have been done. This edition has some variant readings in relation with those of previous authors who studied the inscriptions. Also, four unpublished epigraphs are studied and edited; these are integrated in the coat of arms that are in the reredos. This research offers a new hypothesis about the provenance of this reredos, arguing that its original situation was one of the towers of the old fortress.
