%X The main objective of this doctoral thesis is the transcription and edition of the largely unpublished literary corpus of the Carmelite María de San Alberto (1568-1640), along with a rigorous study of her life and works. This is achieved through the updating of the scarce critical bibliography and primary sources, most of which are manuscripts preserved in the archive of the Convent of the Concepción del Carmen in Valladolid, to which we have had direct access. It is, of course, essential to document the biography of this Carmelite, who came from a highly erudite family of great significance in the Valladolid society of the time. Her cultural influences are evident in her works, which must be studied in relation to her close connection with the literary production of Teresa of Jesus, whom she emulates and draws inspiration from. For these reasons, both objectives have been indispensable for this thesis. This study should be framed within the lines of the CARMEL-LIT Research Project: "Mulier fortis, mulier docta. Literary Hybridism and Resistance in Post-Teresian Carmelite Communities (16th and 17th centuries)" (2021-2025), funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (National I+D Plan). The project, led by Dr. Esther Borrego Gutiérrez, seeks to recover and study the literature produced by first- and second-generation Carmelites, i.e., those who lived alongside Saint Teresa and those who entered the Carmelite order during her lifetime... %~
