AB Este trabajo explora tres aspectos fundamentales en la trayectoria de Maruja Mallo: la construcción de su identidad artística, la elaboración de teorías estéticas propias y la implementación de estrategias comerciales independientes. Aunque la artista es conocida principalmente como pintora, esta investigación se propone poner en valor la relevancia de su producción literaria y teórica, destacando el papel fundamental de sus escritos en la comprensión de su obra plástica. También se examina cómo, en un contexto históricamente adverso para el acceso de las mujeres a las esferas artísticas, Mallo logró destacar, no sólo por su propuesta pictórica, sino también por su habilidad para gestionar su carrera de manera autónoma, aprovechando redes sociales e intelectuales y construyendo una identidad pública muy bien definida. Para ello, se llevará a cabo la revisión y el análisis de las diferentes fuentes existentes sobre la materia, incluyendo el archivo personal de Maruja Mallo, ––mayoritariamente inédito–– con el objetivo de ofrecer una visión más completa de su legado, reivindicando su contribución a la culturadel siglo XX en una dimensión multidisciplinar.
AB This paper explores three fundamental aspects of Maruja Mallo's career: the construction of her artistic identity, the development of her own aesthetic theories and the implementation of independent commercial strategies. Although the artist is mainly known as a painter, this research aims to highlight the relevance of her literary and theoretical production, emphasising the fundamental role of her writings in the understanding of her plastic work. It also examines how, in a historically adverse context for women's access to the artistic spheres, Mallo managed to stand out, not only for her pictorial proposal, but also for her ability to manage her career autonomously, takingadvantage of social and intellectual networks and constructing a very well-defined public identity. To this end, a review and analysis of the different existing sources on the subject will be carried out, including Maruja Mallo's personal archive, which is mostly unpublished, with the aim of offering a more complete vision of her legacy, vindicating her contribution to twentieth-century culture in a multidisciplinary dimension.
