%X Ziel des Beitrags ist es, einem internationalen Fachpublikum einige Ergebnisse meiner Forschungen zur Geschichte des Deutschen als Fremdsprache in Spanien zu präsentieren. Gerade für die Zeit des 18. Jahrhunderts, als direkte Kontakte zwischen geographisch entfernten Gegenden die Ausnahme waren, hat die Bedeutung von Schulbüchern des Fremdsprachenunterrichts als Zeugnisse des Kulturtransfers in der letzten Zeit eine starke Aufwertung erfahren. Mittels der Lehrbuchforschung kann gezeigt werden, wie das Bild des Anderen, in diesem Fall also das spanische Deutschlandbild, entsteht und auf die Hinwendung Spaniens zu Deutschland im Laufe des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts einwirkt. Nicht zu letzt ist es von Interesse, die Biographien der Autoren dieser ersten Sprachbücher zu erforschen, in diesem Fall die von Raymundo Strauch y Vidal (1760-1823).[ABSTRACT]The aim of this paper is to present an international expert audience some results of my research on the history of German as a foreign language in Spain. Recently the importance of textbooks for foreign language teaching as evidence of cultural transfer has reached a great appreciation, especially as direct links between geographically distant areas like Spain and German speaking countries were the exception in the 18th Century. By using the textbook research the way the image of the Other was built can be shown and in this case, the Spanish created an image of Germany, which had its influence on the way Spain opened herself to German influences during the 19th and 20th Century. Last but not least, it is of interest to explore the biographies of the authors of these first manuals for learning the German language, in this case Raymundo Strauch y Vidal (1760-1823).
