RT Book, Section T1 Concierto Zaj (Festival Zaj 2) A1 Riviere Ríos, Henar A2 Stegmann, Petra AB This article offers the first comprehensive reconstruction of the fist event that presented a complete program of Fluxus pieces in Francoist Spain in 1966. Organized by Zaj artists Juan Hidalgo and Walter Marchetti, along with other members of the group, it marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between Fluxus and Zaj. Drawing on research from major archives—including Archive Sohm (Staatsgalerie Stuttgart) and Archivo Happening Vostell (Museo Vostell Malpartida, Spain)—as well as an interview with one of its key performers, Juan Hidalgo, this paper not only reconstructs the evening’s program but also explores how a Fluxus program had to be adapted to the constraints of Franco’s dictatorship, shedding light on the similarities and differences between Fluxus and Zaj.
