%X Este trabajo analiza el discurso producido por los guardias civiles sobre su carácter militar en la Segunda República a través del estudio de los artículos publicados en su revista corporativa de referencia: la Revista Técnica de la Guardia Civil. El objetivo es examinar los significados que atribuyeron a dicha idea para mantener su autonomía respecto al poder militar e impedir la implantación de modelos organizativos y protocolos operativos propios del Ejército. Se sostiene que la estrategia que aplicaron consistió en asociar semánticamente su naturaleza castrense a los atributos institucionales específicos de las fuerzas gendármicas, los cuales se enraizaban en su peculiar condición híbrida.
%X This paper analyses the discourse produced by civil guards on their military character in the Second Republic through the study of the articles published in their leading professional journal: the Revista Técnica de la Guardia Civil. It aims to examine how they defined that idea in order to keep their autonomy regarding the military power and to avoid the implementation of the Army's organizational models and action procedures. It argues that the strategy applied was to link semantically their military nature to the specific institutional features of the gendarmerie forces, which were rooted in their particular hybrid condition.
