T1 Una aproximación a los conceptos romanos de “concordia” y “libertas"

AB El presente artículo pretende analizar, desde el horizonte de la Antigüedad Clásica, y a la luz de la perspectiva de José Ortega y Gasset, los conceptos romanos de “concordia” y “libertas”. Con tal intención, su escrito sobre Del Imperio Romano nos permite extraer las enseñanzas necesarias para reflexionar sobre el auténtico sentido que ambos conceptos tenían en Cicerón. La “concordia” es el cimiento de toda sociedad estable. Y la “libertas” está estrechamente vinculada al concepto de “vida como libertad”, esto es, a la vida pública sin reyes. Por tanto, dar cuenta de ambos conceptos es una necesidad de primer orden para comprender la historia de Occidente.
AB This article intends to analyse, from the classic antiquity perspective and by means of José Ortega y Gasset’s viewpoint, the roman concepts of “concordia” and “libertas”. With this aim, his writing in reference to Del Imperio Romano allows us to draw the necessary lessons in order to reflect on the true meaning that both concepts had on Cicero’s thought. “Concordia” is the foundation of any stable society. “Libertas” is closely linked to the concept of “life as freedom”, in other words, public life without royalty. Therefore, it is indispensable to account for both concepts in order to understand the Western history
