But an error by Hübner when transmitting Constanzo’s original data about two milestones (CIL II 4653-4654) provoked some false correspondences, duplications and erroneous locations for these milestones for a century and a half. This paper aims to analyze these misunderstandings, to try to find their origin and to observe their problematic consequences maintained by epigraphic scholarship until today.
