Al mismo tiempo, se plantea como objetivo el análisis e interpretación de aquellas representaciones sociales y modelos de legitimación que las interesadas utilizan a fin de visibilizarse en el escenario social al igual que lo hacen otros tipos de familia y maternidad. The three authors of this article analyze the specific case of one type of motherhood: single mothers by choice, that is, those who in a voluntary, conscious manner-without forming part of a marriage or other type of union-have decided to have one or more children by themselves, be it through reproductive techniques or adoption. At the same time, the authors' aim consists of analyzing and interpreting those social representations and legitimation models employed by these mothers to ensure their presence on the social scene just as other types of families and mothers have done.
